Black Friday Shopping

EVENTS

I will consider this post an event because lets face it, Black Friday can be quite an event.  From the parking lot to lines in the store, you never really know how the day will pan out.
Every year my mom and her long time friend go to the mall the day after Thanksgiving.  As long as I can remember my dad would drop them off and wait for their call to come pick them up after the long fun-filled day of shopping.  I started to join them as I got older and started to like shopping more (I think it was mainly because I could last the day of shopping).  I have been joining them for some time now.
Let me say it is an experience and I love it.  I love being out in all the crowds and I am a professional people watcher. (Black Friday is a good day for people watching)  This shopping trip is a tradition I will keep.
This year we started our day around 10:30 at the Towson Town Center.  I planned on stopping in my favorite stores, J.Crew, Madewell, and Nordstrom.  I found something in each store.

Surprising I know!  I just can't leave things behind in these stores.
Now I didn't go overboard or anything and to be honest there wasn't to much stuff I wanted to buy.  I am a terrible shopper when places are busy and packed.  (That might have had something to do with it)  But I did find a favorite, must have at Madewell.

How great is that sweater?  I had to break it in already.

Nordstrom is one of my favorite places in the mall to wander around.  Bags, shoes, clothes it has everything including one of my weakness- jewelry.
Now it wasn't all about us.  We did do a little Christmas shopping for others.  They will have to wait and be surprised.
We ended up leaving the mall around 5:00! We all had a wonderful time and I can't wait until next year to do it all again.

New York, New York

HER

On my Fall To Do list post I said I wanted to go to New York and I also wrote about how my trip was planned, but I never told you just how much fun we had.
My mom and a good friend of hers planned out the trip.  This trip was just for shopping.  You know, the important things.

We got there around 10:30 am and started our day.  Our first stop was at a shoe store.  Not just any shoe store, we started at the Belgian Shoes store.  Perfection in a shoe!  These shoes are so cute and classic; it had to be the first stop on our list.
A good friend who lives in New York met us at the shoe store.  It was so great to see her.
Our next stop was to another shoe store; my mom had shoes on the brain.  You can never go wrong with shoes.  Of course we had success there too!  And another good friend of mine met us there.  It was so nice to see her.  She found out she just passed the New York bar so it was fun to congratulate her in person.

I had to check out Tory Burch.  Needless to say, I found some shoes there too.  Gosh, we have a shoe problem.
Well I guess shoes are not the only problem.  I had to check out some bags while we were there too.

I would love one in every color.  I couldn't help but stop by and see all of the colors in person.
We had such a great time.  The day flew by and before we knew it, it was time to go home.  We had to say good bye to my friends and head back home.  New York is hard, one day is not enough, but a long weekend is sometimes too long.  I love New York, but I don't think I could ever live there.  I think for now I will just keep visiting.
I can't wait until next time!

Winter Necklace

HER

With the cold weather here and at full force it is time for me to pull out what I call my winter necklaces.  I am talking about scarves.  Now, I consider scarves my winter necklace because just like a statement necklace, scarves really do add a nice touch to any outfit.  And another plus of scarves is that you can wear them with many different tops, dresses, anything you name it and the whole outfit changes.

This is one of my favorite ones.  What is so great?  One, the color is perfect.  It goes with white and navy, what more could you ask for?

Two, it has such a nice weight to it without being too overwhelming or overpowering.  I found this scarf in South Moon Under one day and had to have it.
Another SMU find is this great orange scarf.  Again it has a perfect weight and I just love the size of this scarf.

If you are ever near The Shops at Kenilworth stop in South Moon Under and check out their many great items.

This navy and off white is another favorite.  This one is from J.McLaughlin, which is one of my favorite places.  The scarf selection there is great!  You can't leave there with just one.
Like I said it is hard to leave with just one, here are the ones I found the last time I was visiting J.McLaughlin.

How great are these?  The colors are wonderful and would make a great statement with any outfit. To be honest these scarves from here are my favorite.  These scarves are the definition of perfection.
So with this colder weather here and I think it is here to stay, the scarf collection will grow, especial if I stop by South Moon Under and J.McLaughlin.

To Do List: Fall Edition: UPDATE

HER/PLACES

I have a new update on the Fall To Do List.  I have booked my trip to New York City.  Yes, I will be traveling to the city in November.  It will be just for the day, so the day will be jammed packed full of shopping, lunch with friends, and of course walking.  I can't wait!  New York here I come.

So the list of things to do in the city is growing everyday.  I plan on jumping on the bus, getting dropped off, and meeting up with friends.  Shopping is a must and I can't wait to see what I find to bring home with me.  I mean come on, I am sure everything will be a need not a want, right?  Oh well.
Along with shopping, I am so excited to see my friends that have just recently moved to the city.  It is so fun to travel with them because the have already become New Yorkers.
Well, I will keep you all posted on the trip.  I am so excited!
